In 2002, pensioner Andrew Whittaker Jr. won a massive $314 million Powerball jackpot. He generously donated 10% to charity — but the rest vanished in just four years.

Whittaker burned through his fortune with reckless spending: tossing cash in clubs, losing $200,000 left on a car seat, and becoming a regular at strip clubs, blowing thousands on drinks and women. He gave his granddaughter $2,100 a week in allowance — money she used to buy drugs that eventually led to her death.

By 2007, Whittaker was broke. Looking back, he said he wished he had torn up the winning ticket.
